Man Struck by Gjumri-Yerevan Electric Train

On May 18, around 1:30 PM, in the Aragats-Karakert section, an electric train operating the Gjumri-Yerevan route was involved in a collision with a man who appeared on the tracks.

The train driver applied an emergency brake but was unable to prevent the collision. The victim, Hratch Mikrtchyan, born in 1962, was hospitalized in serious condition.

The timetable for train operations on the route was disrupted for more than two hours.

The South Caucasus Railways company expresses its apologies to passengers affected by this incident, which was beyond the company's control. The company once again urges citizens and drivers of vehicles to adhere to traffic rules, avoid crossing railway tracks, and remain vigilant near railway infrastructures.
