Health Issues Reported as Gayané Martirosyan Refuses Food, Ombudsman's Office Reveals

Representatives of the Ombudsman have met with the parents of fallen servicemen, following their two-day visits to the police. This was stated in the announcement of the Human Rights Defender's Office.

The Ombudsman's representatives visited the Shengavit division of the Police immediately after the arrest of the parents of fallen servicemen on May 17, and held private conversations with them.

Reports have been received via the Ombudsman's hotlines regarding this incident, including calls from members of the National Assembly of Armenia and lawyers.

This morning, May 18, early in the morning, the Ombudsman's representatives conducted a second visit to the detention facility of the Yerevan Police, where they had a private conversation with the mother of fallen serviceman Azgush (Gayané) Martirosyan, where they familiarized themselves with her health status and the medical documents prepared.

It has been recorded that she has certain health issues and has refused to accept food.

No complaints have been submitted regarding the treatment by the management of the detention facility or the conditions of detention.

Complaints made by the Ombudsman's representatives concerning state bodies and officials have already been summarized, and appropriate letters have been sent to the relevant authorities for necessary clarifications.
