Do Not Destroy a Grieving Mother, Human Rights Defender

Free the mother of the fallen soldier. This is the appeal made by human rights defender Zhanna Aleksanyan, addressing the case of Gayane Hakobyan, who was arrested in connection with the alleged abduction of Ashot Pashinyan.

"She is not a criminal. Do not destroy a person, a woman, a grieving mother. Why have you initiated administrative proceedings against the parents of fallen soldiers? It is not a coincidence that the incident involving Ashot Pashinyan occurred in the yard of the Court of Appeals during the examination of administrative cases. Why are you belittling them? Why are the police officers who used violence against the mothers dressed in black not punished? The incident should be assessed in the context of these and many other questions. Respect that woman, release her, you are the country's leader—show generosity," she wrote.
