Armenia's National Security Service Tracks Major Cocaine Chain Involving Imported 1 Ton of Cocaine

According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', the National Security Service of Armenia has uncovered a major chain related to the import of one ton of cocaine into the country, which involves both citizens living abroad and those residing in Armenia.

Law enforcement agencies have suspicions that the process of importing the cocaine may have been sponsored by major 'leaders' or high-ranking officials, indicating that a series of arrests are expected in the context of this case. Details regarding those implicated will be presented in the near future.

It is recalled that yesterday, the National Security Service reported that during the pre-investigation of criminal case number 58221423, initiated and conducted on May 13, 2023, it was revealed that approximately one ton of cocaine valued at around 250 million euros had been imported into Armenia from a company in Ecuador through transit countries including Panama, Italy, and Georgia, by a company engaged in fruit imports operating in the Republic of Armenia. This substance has been discovered and is currently in the custody of the National Security Service of Armenia.

The criminal proceedings have involved chemical forensic examinations, interrogations have been conducted, and requests for information have been sent to the relevant authorities. An instruction has also been given to the investigative body to carry out operational-intelligence measures. The pre-investigation is ongoing.

Further details will be available in today's issue of the newspaper.
