Survey Work Conducted in Aygehovit: 'Hraparak'

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, summarized the trilateral meeting held in Brussels, stating that the parties confirmed their respect for each other's territorial integrity: Armenia - 29,800 sq. km, Azerbaijan - 86,600 sq. km. According to Michel, the rights and security of ethnic Armenians living in the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast were also discussed. Following this announcement, discussions arose that the Armenian Prime Minister has handed over Artsakh to Azerbaijan, agreeing to its territorial integrity, which also includes the 4,000 sq. km of Nagorno-Karabakh. There were also rumors that an agreement had been reached to return the enclaves. This 29,800 square kilometers is the territory of Soviet Armenia, excluding the enclaves belonging to Azerbaijan, such as Tigranashen (Kyarqi) in the Ararat region and several villages in Noyemberyan and Ijevan.

Moreover, during various discussions, different numbers have been mentioned regarding the enclaves; sometimes there are discussions about 9 enclaves, and recently even 11. However, experts claim that the maximum count could be about 4 enclaves: 3 in Noyemberyan and one in the Ararat region, namely Tigranashen village.

According to 'Hraparak', it has been reported that survey work has already begun in the Aygehovit community of Ijevan. A resident of the village told the media that a few days ago, before Prime Minister Pashinyan's visit to Brussels, some people appeared in the village and conducted survey work, which has deeply unsettled the village residents. The informant believes that as a result of the surveys, it has become clear that a significant part of the village will pass into Azerbaijani territory. For instance, one might have a house and an adjacent land plot, and the orchard might fall under enemy control, with the border running through the house and the orchard.

'Hraparak' posed several questions to the Aygehovit community leader Levon Grigoryan, which are presented below:

- We were told that survey work is being carried out in Aygehovit, and part of the village will pass under enemy control.

- I can't say, I'm not aware, I don't know.

- Aren't you interested? Doesn't your birthplace and village's future concern you?

- I can't say. Who said that, what was said, such a thing does not exist.

- Hasn't survey work been conducted?

- Survey work was completed in 2002.

- I'm talking about a few days ago.

- No, I don't know.

- Why do the authorities speak about the enclaves? Is Aygehovit, in your opinion, an enclave?

- I can't say anything, what you know is the same for me.

- What do you think, should your community be handed over to Azerbaijan?

- There is no such thing, we haven't heard anything. Come to the village, I'll tell you, I will share my opinion. I answered your question. If you come to the village, we can go to the enclave together; I will answer your question.

- What enclave are we talking about? Do you consider your village an enclave?

- Well, I don't know, you are saying it.

- How many years have you lived in Aygehovit?

- A long time.

- Have Azerbaijanis ever lived there?

- No. When you come, we will talk in detail.

- Are you a supporter of Nikol Pashinyan? Perhaps that is the reason you are not answering our questions?

- I am not a supporter of anyone, sorry.
