Erdogan Sees Leader of 'Gray Wolves' as Speaker of Parliament
On May 16th, Turkey's President, leader of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), and the unified presidential candidate of the People's Alliance, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, gave a joint interview to CNN TÜRK and Kanal D, reports Ermenihaber.am.
In response to the question, "Is there someone you see as the speaker of the parliament (Meclis)?", Erdogan named Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). This party is considered the political wing of the Turkish extremist organization ‘Gray Wolves’.
“The right already belongs to him. Since the right is his, by God’s will, we will successfully take that step,” said the Turkish President.
It is noteworthy that in the general elections held on May 14, the MHP garnered 10.07% of the votes, earning the right to have 50 representatives in the Turkish parliament.
