22 Individuals from the Polytechnic University of Gyumri Branch Face Charges
22 individuals from the Polytechnic University's Gyumri branch have found themselves in the defendant's chair for offering and receiving bribes. This information is reported by the newspaper ‘Hraparak’.
According to the preliminary investigation, between February and June two years ago, lecturers demanded and received bribes amounting to up to 100,000 drams from students in exchange for grading exams, assessments, and thesis projects.
The defendants deny the charges; according to their lawyer, the investigative body is attempting to extract testimony through pressure.
One student told a reporter, “A case has been initiated based on some recordings, which don’t even clarify who is saying what to whom. They don’t even mention specific amounts, and now, can you imagine, so many people have been pulled into this situation? Even though we are adults, they are bringing our parents in and saying that it was you who gave the money.”
