24 Kilograms of Gold Smuggling Halted at Domodedovo Airport

The Domodedovo Airport in Moscow has thwarted an attempt to smuggle gold worth 126 million rubles (approximately 1.5 million dollars). A passenger tried to leave Russia with two gold ingots weighing a total of 24 kilograms.

This information was reported by Ria.ru. The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation stated, "An attempt to illegally transport gold across the state border of the Russian Federation was halted at the Domodedovo International Airport. The individual attempting to leave the territory of the Russian Federation was found to have two gold ingots hidden among personal belongings, with a total weight exceeding 24 kilograms. Their estimated value exceeds 126 million rubles."

A case has been opened concerning the smuggling of strategically significant goods and resources in particularly large amounts. It has been reported that the man has been arrested.
