Railway Communication with Russia Not on Agenda, Kobakhidze Says

The chairman of the ruling party "Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia," Irakli Kobakhidze, stated that the issue of restoring railway communication with Russia is not on the agenda.

On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on direct air communication with Georgia and revoked the directive addressed to tourism companies to refrain from selling travel packages to Georgia. Following that, several Russian and Georgian media outlets began discussing the possibility of restoring railway communication as well.

“The topic of railway communication is not being discussed. Our decisions are based on the principle of how much they align with national interests, and there is currently no such issue on the agenda,” noted Kobakhidze.
