Ukrainian Parliamentary Elections This Year May Be Canceled, Zelensky Says
Lilit A.
The parliamentary elections scheduled for late October this year in Ukraine may be canceled if the martial law remains in force.
This was stated by President Zelensky in an interview with The Washington Post.
“The Constitution prohibits any elections during martial law. If there is no martial law, then there will be elections. The law states that under the Constitution of Ukraine, after the end of martial law, I think elections take place 90 days later,” he said.
Based on Zelensky's words, if martial law continues into 2024, presidential elections could also be canceled.
