During a press conference, Siranuš Sahakyan, a lawyer representing the interests of Armenian captives at the ECHR, stated that the Azerbaijani side continues to carry out targeted actions causing additional suffering to the families of individuals under their control since the 2020 war.

According to Sahakyan, civilians and healthcare workers are also involved in the mistreatment of captives. “Military or civilian doctors who came into contact with the servicemen were applying violence. In recent incidents, we have had numerous testimonies that prisoners of war were handed over to civilians. For example, while being transferred to Baku, they stopped in a village where civilians were already gathered, and the prisoners were thrown out of the car in front of them, who then applied violence and beatings,” Sahakyan noted.
