US Seeks 'Valuable Russians' to Swap for Two Americans Detained in Russia

The Biden administration is engaging in negotiations with various countries where alleged Russian spies are being held, to potentially swap them for two Americans detained in Russia, according to CNN.

BBC also reports that the US is searching globally for 'valuable Russians' who could be exchanged for Evan Gershkovich, a reporter from The Wall Street Journal, and former Marine Paul Whelan.

It is noteworthy that Russia detained American journalist Evan Gershkovich on charges of espionage. According to intelligence reports, the American was 'gathering information on one of the Russian defense industry enterprises that contains state secrets' at the behest of the US.
