U.S. Secretary of Defense Announces Timeline for Ukraine to Receive Abrams Tanks

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has announced that Ukraine will definitely receive Abrams tanks by the beginning of autumn, following the completion of training programs for Ukrainian soldiers. This was reported by Voice of America.

"We are doing everything possible to expedite the delivery of those tanks. We expect this to happen in early autumn. During this time, we have moved several tanks to a training facility so that the Ukrainians can begin their training. By the time the drills are completed, the tanks will be available for use," the Secretary stated during Senate hearings.

According to him, such timelines are explained by the fact that U.S. military personnel are not only sending the tanks to Kyiv and training Ukrainian soldiers to operate them but are also creating the infrastructure that will support the operation of the combat vehicles.

"As you know, this equipment is significantly different, particularly due to the turbine engine and other quite complex systems. But we are trying to transfer this technology to the Ukrainians as soon as possible," Austin added.
