Haik Harutyunyan on the Recommissioning of Amulsar

In February, a tripartite memorandum was signed to address the financing issues necessary for the recommissioning of Amulsar. This was stated by Haik Harutyunyan, Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia, during a meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.

“It has been repeatedly announced that construction works have been completed by 70-80 percent, but considering the time that has passed, there is a need to reassess the stability, seismic resistance, and overall future usability of the completed construction and built facilities,” the Deputy Minister noted, mentioning the arrival of international experts who are conducting analytical work in the area.

According to Harutyunyan, engineers need to evaluate the situation, after which it will be determined whether to continue the work from the point where it was halted or to modify the scope of the project. “I’m referring to a timeframe of 10-15 days; the analyses are expected to take about a month,” Harutyunyan added.
