Arman Adamyan, Armenian Origin Judoka Representing Russia, Becomes World Champion
Arman Adamyan, a judoka of Armenian descent representing Russia, has claimed the title of world champion in the under 100 kg weight class. The competitions are taking place in Doha.
In the final, Adamyan defeated Czech athlete Lukáš Krpálek. The bronze medals were awarded to Azerbaijani judoka Zalimkhan Kotsov and Israeli athlete Peter Paltchik.
Adamyan's victory marks the first gold medal for the Russian team at the ongoing world championships in Doha. On May 13, medals will be contested in the women's over 78 kg and men's over 100 kg weight categories.
The 26-year-old Adamyan became the European champion and the winner of the European Games in a joint competition held in Minsk in 2019. In November 2020, he earned a silver medal at the European Championship in Prague. Additionally, Adamyan has triumphed in four Grand Prix competitions.
