Video: One Kilogram of Heroin Found in Car
The Criminal Police's Drug Trafficking Prevention Division received operational information that a 67-year-old resident of Yerevan was smuggling large quantities of various drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran into Armenia. A series of urgent operational and investigative measures were initiated, and it was determined that he was distributing the drugs through another Yerevan resident, a 57-year-old man.
After confirming the information, it was decided to apprehend them in the act, and further actions were carried out in collaboration with officers from the Central Police Division and patrol officers in the capital. On May 7, both individuals were arrested on Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan and were taken to the Central Police Division along with the ‘Toyota’ vehicle driven by the 67-year-old man.
A search of the vehicle revealed 1 kilogram of heroin, which the 67-year-old man claimed belonged to him. A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative unit of the Central and Nor Nork-Marash administrative districts. Both individuals have been detained and transferred to the ‘Armavir’ penitentiary. The circumstances are under investigation.
