Russia Recruits 10,000 Prisoners for Military in Just April
The Russian Ministry of Defense has expanded the scheme for recruiting Russian prisoners for the war in Ukraine. In April 2023 alone, up to 10,000 convicted individuals were mobilized into the Russian army, according to a statement by the UK Ministry of Defence, referencing intelligence data.
“Since last summer, the main source of recruitment for Wagner has been prisoners,” the report stated.
