Former Foreign Minister Arrested in Pakistan
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister of Pakistan and vice president of the opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been arrested. This information was disclosed by RIA Novosti, referencing the party's press service.
"Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the vice president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, was arrested last night," the statement reads. The opposition party has released Qureshi's message urging continued protests.
A wave of protests erupted in Pakistani cities on the evening of May 9, following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. In response to his detention, Khan's party called for mass demonstrations across the country.
