Websites Broadcasting News from Sputnik and RT France to be Blocked in France

French authorities will block websites broadcasting information from media outlets under sanctions as part of a new bill on "Digital Space Security." This was announced by France’s Minister Delegate for Digitalization and Telecommunications Jean-Noël Barrot, who cited Sputnik and RT France as examples. The report comes from Sputnik Armenia.

“As part of measures to protect democracy, we will also impose a ban on websites that broadcast content from media outlets subject to international sanctions, such as those enacted by the EU against RT France and Sputnik. This measure will complement our arsenal in the fight against the propaganda of the enemies of democracy,” Barrot stated during a press briefing after a Cabinet meeting.

According to Barrot, the bill is expected to be presented to the Senate for discussion in early July. In November 2016, the European Parliament passed a resolution highlighting the need to counter Russian media, identifying Sputnik and RT as the main threats.
