Start Date for Enrollment of First Graders Announced
The enrollment process for first graders in public schools of Armenia will begin on June 12 and will be conducted in three phases. This year, the enrollment process will again be managed through the electronic system "Online School Registration" operated by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
In the first phase, starting from June 12, registration will be open to all citizens who possess certain privileges. According to the decree of the Minister of Education and Science dated November 24, 2010, the admission of students is prioritized for:
- Children who have siblings already studying at the same school and children of the school staff (this privilege will continue until June 25, inclusive).
- Families residing within the pedestrian accessibility range from the school as defined by legislation, households included in the assessment system for family poverty, foster children, and children of families with disabilities.
- Children of state employees who have relocated to another settlement for at least 6 months due to internal business travel.
For the last two categories, there is no time limitation, and parents can apply to the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia for the admission of their child if they meet the relevant criteria. Both Armenian and Russian language instruction classes will be available for these privileges.
In the second phase, starting on June 27, the enrollment process for first graders will be conducted on a general basis for all students in public educational institutions that provide education in Armenian.
The third phase, beginning on July 4, will also allow registration for foreign citizens, dual citizens, and stateless persons (or their legal representatives). If one parent is part of any of the aforementioned groups, and the other is an Armenian citizen, enrollment can be done by the parent's choice in classes that offer instruction in Russian.
Enrollment for students belonging to national minorities will occur in schools that provide education in the student's national (native) language or in schools that offer classes in that language. If such a class is not available, the choice of the language of instruction will be made by the student’s parent.
Enrollment will continue throughout the entire academic year. It should be noted that the registration of at least one child from twins, triplets, quadruplets, or larger siblings ensures the admission of the other children into the same institution, regardless of licensing restrictions.
Before enrollment, it is essential to verify the completeness of the child's data. To this end, parents should visit the KTAC website, where they can check the child's personal information for accuracy. This step is necessary to avoid potential issues before starting the actual enrollment process.
