Pashinyan’s Watch Under Scrutiny: Declaration Violations Exist, Says ‘Zhoghovurd’
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, is wearing an expensive watch from the AWI brand, which he has not declared. This fact has come to the attention of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia. This has been reported by the newspaper ‘Zhoghovurd’.
“Applications have been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Committee under the names of public officials, particularly the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, and Ministers, as serious violations have been identified in their submitted annual declarations,” the newspaper states.
According to the paper, one of the clarifications in the submitted application by the Prime Minister specifically concerns his wristwatch. The committee has already begun evaluating the clarifications provided by officials regarding the discrepancies in their declarations.
It is noteworthy that on November 22, 2022, the ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reported that the Anti-Corruption Committee had submitted an application to the National Security Service of Armenia to have its operational investigative group examine the property of all public officials and determine whether they own undisclosed businesses, real estate, or movable property, or if they drive a car that is not declared.
During the joint operations with the NSS, the revealed discrepancies and concealed gifts have become issues for several high-ranking officials. Additionally, it is noted that the Prime Minister earns 1,580,000 drams. He wears expensive suits, and his wife wears costly jewelry; however, the Anti-Corruption Committee has only pointed out the AWI watch.
