Negotiations Underway to Transfer Patients from Artsakh to Armenia

As of April 29, citizens in serious health condition have not been transferred from Artsakh to Armenia, a decision made by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). "We last moved through the corridor on April 29," said Ethery Musayelyan, the ICRC spokesperson for the Artsakh mission, in a conversation with MediaHub.

"Transfers through the Lachin corridor have been temporarily halted because discussions are currently underway with all decision-makers to reach a general agreement, to understand under what conditions we can carry out our activities as a neutral humanitarian agent. We are a neutral mediator; we must ensure the safety of these individuals and for that, we need all parties to agree on the same terms," she emphasized.

When asked whether Azerbaijan would allow the transfers to take place, she responded that she is not the addressee of that question. "Negotiations are ongoing, and who will make what decision in the end will be shown by the situation," Musayelyan highlighted.

It is worth noting that on April 23, the Azerbaijani side established a checkpoint near the bridge over the Hakari River in Artsakh, which completely severed the connection between Armenia and Artsakh. Moreover, the importation of any type of goods to Artsakh has also been prohibited.
