Igor Khachaturov, Son of Yuri Khachaturov, Acquitted
Igor Khachaturov, the son of the former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia and former Secretary General of the CSTO, Yuri Khachaturov, has been acquitted. The criminal prosecution against him has been terminated.
Moments ago, Judge Tatevik Grigoryan of the Court of General Jurisdiction for the Kentron and Norq Marash administrative regions announced the ruling.
It should be noted that on May 17, 2022, during a protest action initiated by the opposition on Kyiv Street in Yerevan, Igor Khachaturov was arrested and subsequently detained.
Khachaturov had been charged under Article 316, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (violence against a representative of authority). According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Khachaturov, along with another participant of the protest, obstructed the actions of a police inspector who was trying to clear the street and detain individuals, and inflicted non-life-threatening harm on the inspector's health by striking him several times in the chest and abdominal areas.
