Archbishop Pargev Awaits Green Card: 'Hraparak'
Former leader of the Artsakh Diocese, Archbishop Pargev has been in the United States for nearly three years. This was reported by the newspaper 'Hraparak'.
In November 2020, it was revealed that he had traveled due to health issues related to heart problems. On January 21, 2021, he was relieved from his position as the bishop of the diocese and appointed as a special envoy of the patriarch.
For the past three years, the public has learned about his life in the U.S. through a few photographs, where he is seen seated around a table with representatives of the Armenian community, including actor Sos Karapetyan, Shproti, and others. The last time Archbishop Pargev spoke publicly was in a video message responding to Vardan Ghukasyan, known as Dogi, but he has not commented on the blockade of Artsakh or the situation in Armenia.
Sources close to him have indicated that he is awaiting a green card in order to undergo heart transplantation, as those with a green card in the U.S. receive free medical treatment. A contact with connections to the Mother See mentioned that few in Ejmiatsin believe that Archbishop Pargev will return to Armenia.
