The Attack on the Kremlin with Drones is Likely Staged: ISW
The attack with drones on Russian President Vladimir Putin's Kremlin residence is likely staged by the Russian Federation. The primary objective is to demonstrate the closeness of the war to the nation's population and to create conditions for a broader social mobilization, stated the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in its daily report.
ISW experts argue that this theory is supported by the Kremlin's "immediate, consistent, and systematic" response to the incident. "The official rapid and consistent narrative indicates that Russia staged this incident just days before the Victory Day celebrations on May 9, in order to present the war to its domestic audience as an existential matter," the institute's statement reads.
According to ISW, Russian authorities may have done this to justify the cancellation or reduction of the celebration plans for May 9.
