Heavy Rains Lead to 95 Deaths in Rwanda
In the western part of Rwanda, over 90 people have died in the last 24 hours due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall. This information is reported by aljazeera.com.
“Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Our priority is to reach every damaged home to find and save anyone trapped,” said François Habitegeko, the governor of the Western Province.
The governor noted that the death toll has reached 95, with several individuals rescued and taken to the hospital. According to him, the rain started on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM, causing the Sebeya River to overflow its banks. The Rwanda Meteorological Service predicts that heavy rains will continue across much of the country in the coming days.
