Peskov Comments on the Meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers in Washington
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, commented on the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers in Washington, speaking about the issues surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and steps towards resolution. “There are no other legal grounds for the resolution of the situation in Karabakh, other than the trilateral agreements between Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan,” Peskov stated.
“The resolution of existing issues between the two countries and the possible evolution of some joint actions and steps aimed at reducing tension in the region can primarily be based on the trilateral agreements signed in cooperation with Russia. For now, there are no other legal bases that could facilitate the resolution. Of course, any assistance that can favor this kind of resolution is welcome, but we also know that there are various attempts that blur the foundations of the resolution and may not yield results in the long term. We hope that in this case, we are talking about the first option,” Peskov added.
