Jalal Harutyunyan Promises to Attend Commission Meeting
The newspaper "Haykakan Jamanak" reports that the investigatory commission created to examine the circumstances of the military operations that started on September 27, 2020, is waiting for a response from former Artsakh commander Jalal Harutyunyan to convene a meeting and hear from the former official.
In other words, Jalal Harutyunyan has promised to appear before the chairman of the commission, Andranik Kocharyan, but he requires a suitable day and time. The Parliamentary Defense Committee is currently awaiting Harutyunyan's response.
"Haykakan Jamanak" previously reported that Jalal Harutyunyan, the former commander of the Armed Forces of Artsakh, will be summoned to the investigative committee studying the circumstances of the 44-day war. This series is set to continue in the near future, with additional individuals expected to be summoned as well. The commission has limited time for its work and must expedite its efforts.
Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the "Civil Contract" faction in the National Assembly and also the chairman of the investigative commission formed to examine the military operations, has proposed to extend the committee's activities once more. A corresponding draft has already been submitted for circulation and will be discussed in today’s National Assembly session.
He specifically suggests extending the commission’s term by another six months. The justification states: "The National Assembly’s investigative commission has requested and received numerous documents from various departments, which, after detailed examination, has now moved to the phase of hearing the invited individuals," indicating that only six months remain for the commission to summarize its findings.
It should be noted that the true aim of this commission, formed solely of members from the ruling party, is to absolve Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of any responsibility regarding the circumstances of the war.
