In my opinion, the referendum in Artsakh is unnecessary: Aghazaryan

In an interview with Lurer.com regarding the situation surrounding Artsakh, the organized referendum in Artsakh, and the "No to Ethnic Cleansing in Artsakh" movement, member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, Hovik Aghazaryan shared his insights.

“The people of Artsakh have made their own decision, have declared their independence, and have been at war with Azerbaijan. I consider these to be unnecessary at this point. Today, the Republic of Artsakh is an independent state, and we all need to contribute to supporting the right of its residents, our compatriots, to self-determination; otherwise, the people have already determined their path, declared their independence, and it has been so for many years,” Aghazaryan stated.

When asked by the media whether he considers the referendum to be unnecessary, he responded, “I believe we should focus on solving other issues. The people of Artsakh have their government, and their government can raise its voice at various forums, as it is already doing. This is one issue, another issue is Azerbaijan’s hostile stance. If we keep saying we have become independent, then we say we have become independent again, and we have become even more independent — what is the meaning of that?”

It should be noted that since April 23, when Azerbaijan established a border checkpoint at the bridge over the Hakari River on the Lachin-Stepanakert road, a movement called "No to Ethnic Cleansing in Artsakh" has arisen among the youth of Artsakh. This movement has published a petition on behalf of the entire population of Artsakh, addressed to the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, the member states of the UN Security Council, the President of Russia, as the head of a country conducting a peacekeeping mission, and the Prime Minister of Armenia. A signature campaign has also been organized.
