20,000 Russian Soldiers Killed in Bakhmut, Says Kirby

John Kirby, spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, has announced that U.S. estimates indicate that more than 20,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine since December, with an additional 80,000 wounded.

According to Kirby, the Russian offensive in Donbas has ended in failure. “Russia’s attempt to conduct an offensive in Donbas, primarily through Bakhmut, has failed,” said the White House representative.

Half of the 20,000 casualties are from the Wagner mercenary group, which has been fighting on the eastern front of Bakhmut.

“However, according to our calculations, since December, the number of Russian casualties exceeds 100,000, including more than 20,000 killed,” the U.S. National Security Council official stated.

Currently, Russian forces have captured most of Bakhmut, but Ukrainian troops still control a small area in the western part of the city.
