Several German Diplomats Leave Russia

The German Foreign Ministry has announced that some employees of Germany's diplomatic missions have returned to Berlin from Russia, although the number of those affected was not specified. This information was reported by Stern, citing a statement from the ministry dated May 1.

The Foreign Ministry noted that in mid-March, several staff members of Russian diplomatic missions left Germany, allegedly because their activities were deemed "incompatible with diplomatic status."

“The Russian government requested that an equivalent number of personnel from German diplomatic missions leave the country. They departed from Russia today, May 1,” the document cited by the media states.

On April 22, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced the expulsion of more than 20 German diplomats from the Russian Federation. This move was a response from Moscow to Berlin's decision for the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats.

The Russian Foreign Ministry later indicated that such actions aim to disrupt Russian-German relations, including in the diplomatic sphere. The decision by Germany has been condemned by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
