Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry: Armenia's Interference in This Matter is "Unacceptable"

"The establishment of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan on the border of its sovereign territories was a legal step that complies with all norms and principles of international law," Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry stated today, asserting that Armenia's interference in this matter is "unacceptable."

"Commenting on the protests taking place along the Lachin corridor, the Armenian side seems to have forgotten that these actions were directed against the illegal use of the road and military provocations. The Armenian side also continues to distort the provisional ruling of the International Court of Justice," the Azerbaijani diplomatic department added.

It is worth mentioning that on April 23, Azerbaijan shut down the bridge linking Armenia to Artsakh, which is located in the Lachin corridor and under the control of Russian peacekeepers, and subsequently set up a checkpoint that is not stipulated by the trilateral agreements between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia. Since December of last year, Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Shushi-Karin Tak section, and now they have been replaced by security forces.
