Azerbaijanis Made Some Compromises in Talks with Russians: 'Hraparak'

We are receiving desperate news from Artsakh that negotiations between the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent and the Azerbaijanis are not yielding results regarding the removal of the checkpoint installed at the Hakari Bridge. This is reported by the newspaper ‘Hraparak’.

“On Sunday, a checkpoint was established on the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, and since yesterday, a special booth has also been set up where passport checks are supposed to be carried out, or as the Artsakh residents say, a 21st-century yathagan, which they will have to pass under.

Sources from Artsakh say the Russian side has not succeeded in negotiating for x-ray scan machines to replace the checkpoint, with control being carried out by the Russians and Azerbaijanis monitoring online. This would be the only acceptable compromise in the current situation.

Azerbaijanis have made some compromises in talks with the Russians, suggesting they might allow the Russian peacekeepers to carry out certain non-essential functions at the checkpoint. It’s also noteworthy that the fake environmentalists who have kept the Lachin corridor closed for over four months suspended their action yesterday, proving that it had nothing to do with ecology; the goal was to install the checkpoint and cut off Artsakh from Armenia,” the newspaper wrote.
