Azerbaijani Forces Block Humanitarian Supply Convoys Near Shushi
Since around 21:00 yesterday until approximately 11:10 today, Azerbaijani security forces have blocked the movement of vehicles belonging to the Russian peacekeeper contingent supplying humanitarian cargo from Armenia to Artsakh, stopping them for about 14 hours on their route. This information was reported by the information headquarters of Artsakh.
“Just a moment ago, as a result of negotiations between the command of the peacekeeping contingent and the Azerbaijani side, the movement of the vehicles has been permitted and they have moved towards Stepanakert. The cargo trucks mainly contained food products and household items, which were loaded in the city of Goris, Armenia, to meet the urgent needs of the besieged people of Artsakh,” the statement read.
Essentially, the blockade of Artsakh continues at two points: at the checkpoint established near the Hakari Bridge on April 23 and at the area near Shushi that has been blocked since December 12, 2022, where Azerbaijani government agents in civilian clothing have now openly been replaced by employees of the security forces. This indicates that despite the commitments made in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, and other international documents, as well as the decision of the International Court of Justice and numerous appeals from the international community, Azerbaijan is deepening the blockade of the people of Artsakh day by day, exacerbating the security and humanitarian situation,” the message added.
