New Expert Examinations in the March 1 Case

New Expert Examinations in the March 1 Case

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that new expert examinations have been appointed in the March 1 case.

Moreover, many of the defendants in the case went to the Anti-Corruption Committee yesterday to understand what new expert examinations have been assigned, by whom, and on what grounds.

Recall that the General Prosecutor of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, has approached the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Sasun Khachatryan, regarding the March 1 case. In a session of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Legal Affairs, she stated, "The March 1 case consists of about 800 volumes. Recently, I have requested the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee to form an investigative group, because it is impossible to handle this volume of work with one investigator."

Vardapetyan also mentioned that prosecutorial oversight will be implemented and the case will be studied episode by episode.

It should be noted that even after the appointment of the new prosecutor, the supervising prosecutor of the case was changed, yet 15 years later, the March 1 case remains unresolved. The Anti-Corruption Committee has been continuously closing cases related to March 1 on grounds of statute of limitations, and furthermore, it is still unknown who killed 10 citizens in the city center of Yerevan that day.
