Snipers Open Fire on Ukrainian and Italian Journalists, One Dead
Ukrainian journalist Bohdan Bityk, who assisted Italian La Repubblica correspondent Corrado Zunino in covering the war in Ukraine, was killed by sniper fire on the outskirts of Kherson. The Italian journalist was injured in the shoulder. The body of the deceased journalist has not yet been retrieved.
Both journalists were wearing jackets labeled “Press.” Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated to Italian media that the Russians are responsible for the killing. “The Russians do not care whether you are Russian, Italian, or Ukrainian; they simply shoot,” he remarked.
Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has announced that his office and the Italian embassy in Kyiv are working with Ukrainian authorities to facilitate Zunino's return to Italy. No comments have yet been received from Moscow.
