Russia Has Not Banned Armenian Agricultural Products, Says Embassy Customs Attaché
The entry of Armenian trucks into the Russian Federation continues through the Upper Lars border crossing, reported Vahan Hakobyan, the customs attaché of the Armenian Embassy in Russia, in response to circulating information that Russia has banned the entry of Armenian agricultural products.
Hakobyan noted that technical issues have arisen on the Russian side of the border crossing, which have reduced the capacity for truck passage. Currently, there are about 1,000 trucks that have left Armenia and have not yet crossed the Russian border.
“From March 13 to May 23, reconstruction works are being carried out on the Russian side of the Lars border crossing, and as a result, only 6 of the 11 lanes intended for trucks will be operational during this period. This has significantly limited the throughput of the border crossing. Additionally, about a week ago, we learned that two of the four Russian scanning devices have malfunctioned. The Russian side can let through 200-250 trucks into Russia,” Hakobyan stated.
