Lachin Corridor Officially Closed by Azerbaijan, Says Pashinyan

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has accused Azerbaijan of escalating the situation in the region by pointing out the illegal installation of a checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor.

“If the Lachin Corridor was closed until now under the pretext of a fake environmental action, it is now officially closed by Azerbaijan. This is not only a provocative step aimed at increasing tensions in the region but also exacerbating the humanitarian crisis established in Nagorno-Karabakh,” he stated.

He emphasized that the international community has assessed the installation of the checkpoint. According to Pashinyan, Azerbaijan's goal is to carry out ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. “The installation of a checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor is a gross violation of the 6th clause of the trilateral statement from November 9, 2020,” he added. Pashinyan noted that Azerbaijan has violated all points of the trilateral statement during this period.
