Attempt to Strangle Participant of Armenian Genocide Protest in Tbilisi

In Tbilisi, a participant of a peaceful demonstration demanding recognition of the Armenian Genocide was attacked and choked. Arthur Mirzoyan, president of the "Armenian Community of Georgia" NGO, announced this on his Facebook page.

"I want to inform you that right after the April 24 protest, at a bus station, an elderly woman (who has been photographed) insulted our march participants and then attempted to harm a young girl participating in the rally, whose face was adorned with the flag of Armenia. She initially injured the girl’s hand, then tried to hit her in the face, and finally grabbed her by the throat and attempted to strangle her," he wrote.

He also noted that there were quite a few witnesses and cameras at the scene, and law enforcement responded immediately by removing the woman. "A case has been initiated, and we expect that regardless of this guilty woman’s age, she will be punished, and this will serve as a lesson for others. We stand firmly by the side of the strong young girl and express our support for her," the NGO president wrote.
