New Details: The 'Arega' Heights Have Not Been Recaptured, Says Mikhail Arzumanyan's Defender
The former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army and advisor to the President of Artsakh, Mikhail Arzumanyan's defender, Yerem Sargsyan, refutes the version of the investigative committee that claims Arzumanyan issued a retreat order to the personnel who liberated the 'Arega' heights and adjacent combat positions.
Sargsyan stated in a conversation with reporters that Arzumanyan has been charged to 'clarify' the identities of other individuals involved.
"There is evidence in the criminal case that in reality, the 'Arega' heights have not been recaptured; only certain success has been achieved there. The individuals who were present there have their own issues in giving alternate testimonies. We have substantiated why each person has provided such testimony," he declared.
Today marks the first court session in the case of former Artsakh Defense Army commander Mikhail Arzumanyan at the Anti-Corruption Court. The proceedings are being conducted behind closed doors.
Recall that on September 1, 2022, the Prosecutor's Office announced that Mikhail Arzumanyan was charged with giving a retreat order to the personnel who liberated the strategically significant 'Arega' heights and adjacent combat positions during the 2020 Artsakh War.
