NATO Wanted to Destroy Russia, But Ultimately Only United It: Lavrov

Unbiased observers see that NATO intended to destroy Russia, but ultimately only united it. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a press conference following his visit to New York in the framework of Russia's presidency at the UN Security Council.

“The assessments provided by impartial observers and political scientists, both in the Russian Federation and abroad, suggest that NATO wanted to destroy the Russian Federation, but ultimately united it,” the minister said.

He also added that Moscow had sought to prevent NATO's eastward expansion, something he has repeatedly assured the alliance about.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that Russia is practically acting alone against NATO and the Ukrainian military-industrial conglomerate.
