Powerful Explosion at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

A powerful explosion has occurred in the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The information was reported by Renat Karchaan, an advisor to the head of Rosenergoatom, during a broadcast on the 'Rossiya 24' TV channel.

According to Karchaan, the explosion resulted in the shattering of windows in the turbine hall of the plant's fourth energy unit. 'Yes, the glass in the windows of the turbine hall has indeed been broken due to the shock wave from the explosion. However, this story is more related to the use of drones rather than artillery strikes,' Karchaan stated.

He noted that Ukrainian military forces continue their attacks on the Zaporizhzhia NPP and occasionally attempt to shell it.

It is worth mentioning that a mission from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), led by Director General Rafael Grossi, visited the power plant in early September. The head of the Rosatom delegation and the plant's staff showed them the areas of the facility that were damaged due to the shelling by Ukrainian forces. Two IAEA staff members have remained permanently at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. As a result of the IAEA mission's visit, a report was published confirming the fact that the plant has been subjected to shelling.
