Nearly 90 people have died in a stampede in Yemen as they sought to receive charitable assistance of $9.
The incident occurred in the capital city, Sana'a, where a large crowd had gathered to receive aid from local businessmen who promised to distribute approximately $9 to each individual. The sheer number of people wanting to collect the money led to a stampede.
At least 90 people have lost their lives, and more than 300 have been injured, with 13 in critical condition, according to Sky News Arabia. Yemen's Ministry of Interior has already arrested two individuals, and an investigation is underway.
