Residents Demand Proper Compensation for Their Properties in Yerevan
Residents of the 33rd district of Yerevan (known as the Firdusi district) gathered again today in front of the Government building, demanding adequate compensation for their properties.
“The process that the previous government carried out was not to their liking, but now that they are doing it, it seems like a very favorable process for them. They were always against any of this, but once they got into power, they realized it was good business and said ‘let’s take this good thing from them.’ They have always opposed us and have been opposed to the dominance. They complained with us. I see the announcement stating my house is for sale, while I am sitting inside my home, my belongings, and my land are for sale,” said a resident of the Firdusi district.

It is worth noting that back in 2015, the Government decided to demolish several houses and warehouses in the Firdusi district, citing public interest as the reason. Most residents received compensation; however, some residents consider the compensation insufficient and have refused to leave their homes.
