Video: Spoiled Fruits and Vegetables Sold in Artsakh

Shops selling fruits and vegetables have become active again in Stepanakert and its surrounding areas. To promote sales with receipts, fruits and vegetables are distributed to those businesses that have been officially registered and are still operating in Artsakh.

However, recent days have seen an increase in complaints about the quality of fruits and vegetables sold with receipts, with photos confirming these concerns being shared on social media.

During a working consultation, Artsakh's State Minister Gurgen Nersisyan addressed the issue: "The population has been sold products that are either expired or of inadequate quality. Businesses have exploited the fact that due to time constraints, it is often impossible to fully verify the quality characteristics of the products being sold, thus materially providing citizens with, to put it mildly, substandard goods," he said.

Aren Avanesyan, a representative of the Artsakh State Inspectorate Management Committee, noted that they are checking to ensure that the amount of chemicals in the vegetables does not exceed the permissible limits; if it does, they will be destroyed. The officials from the management committee are also monitoring pricing policy: "Tomatoes are priced at 800 drams, apples at 350 drams, potatoes at 300 drams, and bananas at 850 drams," said Avanesyan.
