Iran Develops Anti-Submarine Drone

Iran's naval forces have developed a drone capable of detecting and destroying enemy submarines and ships, Vice Admiral Shahram Iraniani, commander of the naval forces, told Tasnim on Tuesday.

“We are using sonars and other equipment on unmanned aerial vehicles to detect submarines,” he said.

He added that these drones are already operational, although he did not disclose the technical details of the weaponry.

Tasnim recalls that in November 2022, during a meeting with naval commanders, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emphasized the need to maintain the presence of Iranian ships in international waters, enhance their combat capabilities, and continue operations in remote areas.

On Tuesday, during a parade dedicated to Army Day in Iran, numerous domestically developed drones were showcased. Among them was the Mohajer-6 drone, which is capable of carrying precision-guided munitions and advanced reconnaissance equipment. The first wide-body combat drone developed in Iran, the Kaman-22, was also displayed, with a flight range of approximately 3000 km.
