I Do What I Am Obliged to Do: Avinyan

I Do What I Am Obliged to Do: Avinyan

I exclude the possibility that there is systemic corruption in the city hall. We have had high-profile arrests and detentions, and the investigative bodies, the prosecutor's office, and the court will handle individual cases. This was stated by Tigran Avinyan, the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, during a broadcast on Public TV.

He also responded to the opposition's accusations that he is a shadow mayor and has started campaigning using the position of deputy mayor: 'I am a deputy mayor who coordinates the work of administrative districts, the construction and improvement department, cultural, transport departments, and several other divisions. I do what I am obliged to do. It would be illogical for a deputy mayor, who coordinates the work of administrative districts, not to engage with the heads of those districts and understand the problems they need to solve. Criticizing me for that is illogical. If I were in the opposition's place, I would focus on our mistakes, shortcomings, and the work we have not done,' Avinyan noted.
