I Have Never Thought About Joining the Armenian National Team: Evgenia Medvedeva

The Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva-Babasyan has no plans to change her sports citizenship and perform under the Armenian flag. She made this statement to Hello magazine.

“The talks about joining the Armenian national team are not true. I have never thought about it. I was born and raised in Russia. This country has given me everything I have at the moment. But I do not deny my Armenian roots. Maybe one day we’ll go with an ice show. I would be interested in visiting Yerevan,” said the figure skater.

Medvedeva also noted that she understands athletes changing their citizenship.

It is worth mentioning that 23-year-old Evgenia Medvedeva is a two-time world and European champion in figure skating, as well as a two-time Olympic silver medalist.
