Alaverdi Cable Car to Become Armenia's Only Transportation Cable Car: Tandilyan
After its launch, the Alaverdi cable car will become Armenia's only transportation cable car. This was stated by Mane Tandilyan, the leader of the ‘Living Country’ party, on her Facebook page.
“The Alaverdi cable car, built in 1977, has not been operational for eight years. It held exceptional strategic significance for the city as it connected two parts of the town. At the same time, it was also a symbol of the city. The cable car is privately owned, and working towards its re-launch is one of the key points in the election program of the ‘Living Country’ party. Thanks to the effective work of community leader Arkadi Tamazyan, active negotiations are underway with the cable car's owner, and soon the rights to operate the cable car will be transferred to the community. Once operational, the Alaverdi cable car will become Armenia's only transportation cable car. In general, cable cars as a form of urban transport are considered the most convenient and safest means of transportation in the world,” wrote Tandilyan.
