«We are not playing football»: Khandanian on Zakharova's statement
In a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly, the chair of the Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee, Sargsyan Khandanian, addressed the statement made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He stated: “We are not playing football; we are talking about the security of the Republic of Armenia. A comprehensive approach is required on this issue, and there is no problem of passing the ball back and forth between us. Our position remains the same: what happened must be clearly recorded and evaluated, based on which actions will be developed.”
According to him, the draft of the CSTO mission to be sent to Armenia is still in the development phase.
It is worth noting that Maria Zakharova had stated that the timing of the possible deployment of CSTO peacekeepers in Armenia depends on the Armenian side — the ball is in Yerevan’s court.
